ON THE OCCASION OF THE PROPHET'S BIRTH DATE PEACE BE UPON HIM | 2013

للعربية

The muslim world celebrates the birthday of the prophet on january 24th 2012 or 12th rabi al-awwal of 1434 in the hijri calendar.

On this occasion, we, in 247 square, chose to point out the special place that the woman holds in the eyes of the prophet (pbuh) and hence in the eyes of islam. Some of our team members had reservations concerning our choice of ahadith sharifa {the prophet's related sayings} (which correctness is contested among the different sects in islam) instead of quraanic verses which are agreed upon among all muslims. So we faced the contradictions between one source and another. However, despite their contradictions, the sources converged upon the prophet's (pbuh) good treatment of women and his recommendation (pbuh) of treating them kindly. So we took this topic as our theme. And under this theme we chose the following ahadith:

Aisha RA was asked by Al-Aswad bin Yazid
what the prophet used to do in the house.
She replied “He used to work for his family, that is:
serve his family, and when prayer time came,
He went out for prayer”.
~Bukhari~

He used to work for his family, that is: serve his family, and when prayer time came, he went out for prayer

Prophet (pbuh) said “Fear Allah in (treating) women”.
~Muslim~
“Be advised to treat women righteously”.
~Bukhari & Muslim~

Fear Allah in (treating) women | Be advised to treat women righteously

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“From among the believers are those who have the kindest
disposition and are the kindest to their families- such are those
who show the most perfect faith. The best among them are
those who are kindest to their wives.
~Bukhari & Muslim~

From among the believers are those who have the kindest disposition and are the kindest to their families - such are those who show the most perfect faith. The best among them are those who are kindest to their wives.

Bahz b. Hakim on his father's authority said that his grandfather said:
“I said: Messenger of Allah! to whom should I show kindness?
He replied: Your mother, next your mother, next your mother, and then
comes your father, and then your relatives in order of relationship.”
~Sunan Abi Dawud 5139~

I said: Messenger of Allah! to whom should I show kindness? He replied: Your mother, next your mother, next your mother, and then comes your father, and then your relatives in order of relationship
